Are you ready for your license to wed?

Securing your marriage license is one of the most important things on your wedding planning to-do list. Navigating marriage license territory can definitely be confusing, especially since marriage laws vary by state. But don’t worry — your CBU team has gathered all of the marriage license info that you’ll need for your Maryland wedding to keep things running smoothly on your big day!

There are 24 jurisdictions in Maryland, and the state requires that your marriage license be obtained from the Circuit Court Clerk’s office in the county where the marriage will take place.

While it only takes about 15 minutes to apply, there’s usually a 48-hour waiting period before your license becomes effective and ready for validation. Keep in mind that you’ll need to validate your license with a marriage no later than 6 months after it’s issued, or the license will expire!
